The Vigil is a difficult organization to define on a large scale, though it exists globally, it largely operates as independent cells- usually one per city. Each cell seeks out and eliminates supernatural threats within its ward- usually by violent means. Members of the Vigil rarely care for political maneuvering or research- they leave such “soft work” to the Founders or Archivists.
The Vigil in Sterling City is another story. It is larger and considerably better organized than any other in the world.
Based out of catacombs beneath the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Knight Council coordinates all the cells which operate in Sterling. There are between 100 and 300 sentinels in Sterling (Only 3 people know the exact number), broken up into cells of 5-8 which operate largely independently (except for on especially dangerous, difficult, or important jobs).
Not all cells are created equal. One cell might consist of 5 concerned fathers with baseball bats and shotguns, while another might consist of highly trained ex-military personnel.
The Knight Council largely keep to themselves, offering aid to a cell when a need comes to their attention, but otherwise not interfering in the day-to-day activity of the cells. Only in truly dire situations will the Council issue commands to cells.
